Some game community managers do such a good job, and I have immense respect for them. I imagine that must be a special kind of hell for the moderation team. You actually have to deal with them, to keep them somewhat satisfied to avoid any controversy. Of course, you can’t just ban and mute your paying customers. Many people left, the people that remained were just the actual fun players.
I got so tired of it, eventually I just removed myself from the server and played anonymously (so I could actually play the damn game on my own server), changed the rules to something like “you’re a guest on this server, be nice or you’ll be removed” and stopped any involvement in tiny matters and just muted or permabanned dick players. I swear a lawyer couldn’t come up with a set of rules these entitled dicks couldn’t find holes in, or just start arguments about. There will always be a tiny few players finding boundaries and holes in your rules and they’ll happy to point out it is not against the rules and make a scene when you retaliate anyway. I’m running a minecraft server for a small decade now (completely free, btw, just vanilla survival and no mods, I don’t even ask for donations) and I got so tired of the backlash of every move you make to try to make it a pleasant experience for everyone. You have to deal with entitled dicks all the time and you can’t express any emotion about it because it will trigger more dicks and dickish comments.
